This course will teach you everyday first aid skills, which are invaluable when accidents happen around the home - and when you're out and about.

This course does not include CPR. It is therefore recommended that this course is attended in conjunction with one of the life support courses.

Who should attend?

This course is ideal for members of the public who want to learn first aid without having to do resuscitation or CPR.

What you will learn?

The course covers how to deal with minor and deteriorating conditions in casualties of all ages.

Course content

  Priorities of first aid and managing the scene
  Treatment of an unconscious breathing casualty – brief overview:
(covered in full detail in emergency life support classes)
  Treatment of a choking casualty – adult, baby and child
  Drowning
  Treatment of bleeding, grazes, embedded objects, knocked out teeth, amputated parts, eye injury, objects in eyes, ears, noses, nose bleeds...
  Burns - including electrocution
  Treatment of fainting, bites and stings, sprains and strains
  Treatment for medical conditions such as; diabetes, epilepsy, asthma..
  Treatment of all forms of shock including acute allergic reaction
  Breaks, sprains, strains and dislocations
  Poisoning
  First Aid kits

Approx. 3 hours

Assessment and certification

Continuous assessment by trainer. Attendance Certificates.
